Some sites fit directly into the toolset that we offer and some don't. Sometimes you need a little extra this or a little extra that to accomodate a client's needs. The site that we built for Tecun Design for their client InJoy Vidoes really illustrates the wisdom of working with a company with an ecommerce engine built in-house rather than purchased.
They needed more data fields. They needed proprietary data fields. They needed to be able to attach pdf files to their shopping cart products. They needed to add unlimited images to their products. They have streaming videos attached to each product. The look of each page was completely customized. Their site is an intimate mix of static content managed pages and dynamic shopping cart pages. This site also offers special pricing to certain users who represent libraries
Accomodating all of the above needs took some custom work on our part but the important part about this point is that we were able to. It's our ecommerce engine, we can get under the hood and make changes. We are not locked in to what some vendor tells us we can do, we can make customizations for each individual client if we need to.
